The Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP) was pleased to deliver the lecture on Impact Investing at Singapore Management University Lee Kong Chian School of Business last Wednesday. The lecture was a component module of the Advanced Certificate in Sustainability and Sustainable Businesses designed by Singapore Management University (SMU) in partnership with the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS).

Sue-Ann Huang, Associate Director at CIIP, facilitated the session for over 30 industry professionals from across a broad spectrum of enterprises, government organisations and educational institutions. Participants were provided with an overview of the global impact investment landscape and the importance of stewardship, and were introduced to impact investing principles, frameworks and practices.

Silky Raheja, Director of Impact at abcIMPACT, was guest speaker, and provided an insightful sharing on how ABC Impact formulates its impact theses, as well as the firm's approach towards impact screening, management and measurement.

Through case study discussions, participants gained perspectives of the motivations and real-life dilemmas faced by impact investors, as well as ideas on how impact could be better operationalised and accounted for.
