CIIP was pleased to participate in the recent regional dialogue ‘From Policy to Capital: Scaling Blended Finance for Inclusive Climate Action’ in Bangkok. The dialogue was co-hosted by UNDP Climate Finance Network and United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), with support from the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Sida. The dialogue brought together policymakers, financial institutions, development partners, and other climate finance practitioners to discuss pathways toward bridging the gap between policy ambition and available capital and catalysing blended and climate finance.
CIIP’s Jonathan Chan, alongside Invesco’s Josephine Bellman, jointly presented during the session ‘Moving Capital into Adaptation: Evidence and Opportunity in Asia’. Presenting key insights from the recent Climate Adaptation and Resilience in Asia report, the session provided an overview of climate risks and costs, financing flows, and funder insights for climate adaptation and resilience, contributing key perspectives from the private sector in climate financing. This was followed by a presentation by UNDP's Devahuti Choudhury, who presented emerging insights from UNDP research on Adaptation & Resilience Investment Opportunities.
The session complemented a range of panels, discussions, and sessions held over one and a half days, addressing key themes and instruments in inclusive climate financing, including climate-responsive guarantees, inclusive blended finance, financing for MSMEs and agricultural value chains, and insurance.
